JustBeing LMJ

LaKisha has served as a minister, community advocate, instructor, curriculum coordinator, trainer, program developer, grant writer, community planner, program evaluator and community liaison for over 20 years. From 2004-2018 she was co-founder of Sickle Cell Support Services a non profit organization providing services to Sickle Cell Patients in Arkansas. Due to her husband’s failing health; she took on role as Executive Director from 2014-2018. She is motivated by passion, in her mission and her call to fight for people who often can’t fight for themselves!

Her unique evangelistic outreach is built on transparency and lots of love and can be witnessed in many of her roles in life. She is an author, a motivational speaker, teacher, business leader and avid reader. From 2006-2018 she was an Instructor of Gerontology in the University of Arkansas system with a 8 year tenure at the University of Arkansas at Pine Bluff, where she published two book reviews.

In 2014, she lost her husband due to the complications of sickle cell disease. This one moment in her life would change her for ever. She became a heroine in her own right, not only has she triumphed over the death of her husband but as she was a victim of domestic violence in her earlier 20's, a teen mom and  raised by a single parent, LaKisha doesn’t give up without a fight.
