Obedience is Hard....

Friends,

This morning we were running behind schedule. I'm sure many of you know what that's like. The chaos that insues once you check the clock and realize you have 20 minutes to get everyone dressed, decent, and out the door for school. In the frenzy I asked my son to brush his teeth and meet me in the bedroom so he could lotion up and get dressed. He began to ask me why he had to go but not his brothers. On an average morning I would use the skills I have---sitting with him, facing him eye to eye, and having a discussion. With 15 minutes left on the clock that was not going to happen. I sternly told him, "When I ask you to do something please respond yes ma'am and do it, whether you understand, agree, or not." Almost immediately I heard the spirit, "That applies to you as well".

Obedience is hard, especially when there is no concept of why you are being asked to do what you're doing. I, like my son, often ask God, "But why?" Choosing to trust God especially in stressful situations is important to the relationship we have with Him. It's especially important to the moving forward of our ultimate wholeness and story. It also reminds me of the scene at the beginning of the first matrix movie. Neo (the protagonist) gets a call from a mysterious voice telling him to trust him and follow exactly what he asks. "When I say left you turn left." We later find out that even the slightest hesitation could put him in turmoil.

Could you imagine what our own hesitations to the spirit cost us? Do we trust Him enough to move or not whenever or wherever regardless of our understanding?

I'm still a work in progress and repent for being of little faith. I pray for the strength to have such faith. In the meantime, I will be more patient with my four-yr-old as he learns to find his.

Abundantly With Love,

And Samuel said,

“Has the Lord as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the Lord? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to listen than the fat of rams. For rebellion is as the sin of divination,
