Hills and Valleys

Dear Friend,

Here I am with another song! Lately God has been really speaking to me through music. Tauren Wells has another song that I am in love with, "Hills and Valleys".

"Hills And Valleys"

I've walked among the shadows You wiped my tears away And I've felt the pain of heartbreak And I've seen the brighter days And I've prayed prayers to Heaven From my lowest place And I have held Your blessings God, You give and take away No matter what I have, Your grace is enough No matter where I am, I'm standing in Your love On the mountains, I will bow my life To the One who set me there In the valley, I will lift my eyes To the One who sees me there When I'm standing on the mountain I didn't get there on my own When I'm walking through the valley I know I am not alone!

This morning as I was listening, I heard God ask the Question, If I am the God of the Hills (the mountaintop) am I not also the God of the Valley's? I had to immediately turn my attention to Psalms 23, and began to focus on the relationship to God as my shepherd. If God is leading me, He leads me to the Hills (He took me to the mountaintop, not me myself), but does he not also leads me in the valleys?

Psalms 23

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

3 He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

As I meditated on this, I started thinking, "Lord, every time I've been in a valley, I thought you left me, when your word has been consistent to TELL me that you would NEVER leave me or forsake me (see Deuteronomy 31:6). Even if I stray (see Luke 15:4), You promised that You would come after me. As I continued to meditate on this, I had to answer the question, "Yes God, you are the God, of the hills and the valleys, We are NEVER LEFT ALONE!

Never Alone,

LMJ
