James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
In Raising five (5) son’s I have learned a thing or two about video games. I have learned that they will spend all day, to try and conquer the different levels, so that they could eventually “beat” or win the entire video game. It wasn’t until recently I learned because of internet access and YouTube, that you could access something called “cheats”. These cheats give you access to information that you wouldn’t necessarily have access to if you were just playing the game, regularly, finding the information on your own. I have asked them the advantage in using these cheats; didn’t they want the reward of playing and winning the game on their own? As a matter of fact, I have asked them multiple times, to not look at cheats, so that they could process mentally and learn the strategies they need, it was way more rewarding, rather than cheating, their way to a win.
Their response to me has been this, “Mom, we still have to conquer the level, the cheat, just gives us an advantage, it allows us to see things, that sometimes we can’t see. The people that have gone before us, have already discovered this, so the “cheat” gives us access to something that allows us to continue to win the game and have fun at the same time.” This was interesting for me, because I would rather work hard at something, than find a cheat. A scripture came to mind as I continued to watch them play this game. James 1:5, “If any of you lack wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Clearly, there is an advantage to living for the Kingdom, to playing this God’s way. Clearly there is an opportunity here for us to receive the strategies we need in life. Have we been struggling in areas, and with things and all we needed was the Holy Spirit to give us wisdom, to give us the advantage so that we could successfully, win at this level! Have we missed valuable opportunity to advance, because we just wanted to continue to play this game out at our capacity, our speed and only with the skill set and knowledge we have?
There is an advantage to Kingdom living, and it comes from the Comforter (John 14:26), it comes from becoming intimate and filled with the Holy Spirit, as they did in Acts 2:4, this is where the mysteries are found, this is where the “cheat” codes come, this is where divine appointment, meets divine assignment. This is the place in which we learn to “enter rest” and receive an easy yoke and a lighter burden (Matthew 11:25-30), this is the place where we lose more of ourselves and accept more of Christ. God has provided us a cheat code for successful living and it is found in the bible and living with the Holy Spirit, time for you and I to both tap into, so that we can overcome in our lives.
Father: I ask you today for wisdom, knowledge and understanding for my life. I won’t resist the Holy Spirit any more, I have realized that I need you to help me walk through this next “level”, this part of the journey for my life. Without you, it will fail. In Jesus Name. Amen
