Ecclesiastes 9:10 “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might, for in the realm of the dead, where you are going , there is neither working nor planning, nor knowledge or wisdom.”

What if you never get a reward or a thank you, a merit raise or any appreciation for the work that you do? God compels us to work with all our might? But what if you never receive or saw the manifestation of all that you do here on earth in your lifetime. Moses never saw the promise land, what if you don’t see it either? Colossians 3: 23-24 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, 24 since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” This isn’t saying that you won’t see the manifestation of your work here, but the aspiration for what we do or how we serve, should be done as if we were doing it unto the Lord. Even if people are selfish, or self-centered, if we never here thank you, we are still supposed to work as if, we are working unto the Lord. Greater love have no man than this, that a man lay down his life or his friends (John 15:13), love as a sacrifice may not come with a thank you, but if we are to replicate Jesus here on this earth it is necessary.

Matthew 20:28 “even as the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give his life as a ransom for many.” The ideal heart of a servant is that of Christ, it doesn’t look for a reward, because he or she knows that a committed life to Christ requires sacrifice, love and selflessness. The ideal servant serves without looking for any reward at all; the only reward they hope to receive is that which comes from working for the Lord, an eternal well done. Ephesians 6: 7 says, “Serve wholeheartedly, as if you were serving the Lord, not people” Our hearts attitude has to be one of service, to God first and then to man.

Prayer: Father I ask that you to forgive me for every time I have complained, any time I have not walked in love, and every time I forgot my service was for you. Please re-arrange the priority of my heart so that it looks more like you, in Jesus Name. Amen
