The Gift!

The Gift by LaKisha M. Johnson

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation………

I remember one day, I was driving down the road and a lady was walking and it was pouring down raining and she had a little umbrella on. This umbrella wasn’t big enough to protect her from anything. I hear the spirit say, “Go back and give her your umbrella.” I turn around, jump out the car and go to hand her my umbrella. I am smiling from ear to ear. I say to her, “Here you go ma’am the Lord told me to give you this.” She said, “No thank you, every time someone says that or it happens, something happens to the umbrella they give me, someone usually steals it, it is better that I just keep this small, raggedy umbrella that I bought with my own money.” I stood there amazed for a moment, I tried to give it to her again, she still wouldn’t receive it, I stood in utter shock, and couldn’t believe what just happened.

This morning, God brought that story back to my remembrance. I was trying to remember what happened, He said, “She rejected the gift, because of things that had happened to her before.” God began to show me how we reject, don’t receive or understand our salvation, because of the things that have happened in our lives before. (Romans 6:23, Romans 5:8-10 and John 3:16-17). We think our salvation can be earned, or is equated to us having a sinless life, when in fact according to 1 Timothy 2: 3-4 says, “For this is good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior, who desires all men to be saved and to come to the knowledge of the truth.” It can’t be earned. You don’t PAY for gifts, you just RECEIVE them. We have to receive the helmet of salvation for our life as a gift, and not earned by our efforts so that we can walk in the full knowledge of who we are in Christ. Salvation is to deliver us from evil, from the gates of hell and the adversary, our enemy.

We’ve spent too many years in life walking in the rain, with the wrong sized umbrella. That is a strategy of the enemy so that we don’t walk in the freedom of who we are supposed to be in Christ Jesus, understanding our salvation or putting on the helmet of salvation protects of from the head trauma of life. We are already FREE! Which means we need to remember Romans 8:1, “Therefore, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus.” He who the SON sets free, is free indeed!” It is time for you to receive the gift, so that you can walk in the fully authority given to you by God our father, who loves us indeed.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name I repent of my sins and open my heart to let Jesus come inside of me. Jesus, You are my Lord and Savior. I believe you died for my sins and you were raised from the dead. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank You Father for saving me in Jesus' name. Amen.
