A seat at the table!

Dear Friends,

Not long ago we celebrated one of our sister’s, mother’s birthday. When we arrived at the venue we were greeted and told there was only a reservation for four. Our party consisted of nine beautiful women. Our friend who made the reservation was adamant that we be seated first, and that she would figure the rest out. Even, if it meant not sitting at the table with us. Her mother persistently asked the waiter who was serving our table, could he bring more chairs to the table. He agreed to bring two more, and wouldn’t flex with the idea of anymore. He reiterated that THIS table was only made to really sit four. My sister didn’t make a fuss, but knew that she wanted all her friends sitting at the table with her. This brought to remembrance two scriptures in the word:

John 15:15 which says, “I no longer call you servants because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead I have called you friends for everything that I learned from the Father I have made known to you.

And…….

Luke 2:30, “That you may eat and drink at my table in my Kingdom…”

Our friend understood the principle, and the importance of all her friends fellowshipping at the same table. She wanted us to eat and drink together, whatever was happening at our table she wanted us to experience together. Eventually, the waiter favored us and gave us a larger table to seat us all. I believe we would have been okay if the table hadn’t become available, but we were grateful and excited. In the intimacy of the table we ate, drank, laughed, and had a special time, with a special woman; on her special day; creating a special moment.

There is a table that God has prepared for us, that has more than enough seats to accommodate us all. He is just waiting for us to accept the fact that He calls us His friend. He desires for us to come eat, drink, and be merry at His table. He longs for the intimacy that we can ONLY receive by fellowshipping at the same table.

I can hear him saying, “Friend come here, I have room at the table.”

Taking a seat with a friend,

Chanda
