Enjoy Today!
Dear Friends,
If you like me sometimes it is easy to get caught up in what happened yesterday, and so consumed with what tomorrow will bring, that we forget to live in today. The truth is that yesterday is gone, and tomorrow isn’t promised, but Lamentations 3:23, assures us that our God is faithful, and that His mercies are new every morning (today).
There is a confession that I have on my desk title, “Every Day is Day One” taken from Romans 12:1-2 message (emphasis added) that I would like to share with you.
It reads……………..
So here’s what I am going to do today with God’s help. I will take my everyday ordinary life-my sleeping, eating, going to work, and walking around life-and place it before You, God, as an offering.
I will embrace what You do for me, because it’s the best thing I can do for You (and myself).
I will not become so well-adjusted to my culture that I fit into it without even thinking.
Instead, I will fix my attention on You, as You change me from the inside out.
Lord, I recognize what You want from me and respond to it without hesitation. You bring out the best in me, developing well-formed maturity in me.
I will love from the center of who I am today-and I will not fake it. I will run for my life from evil. I will hold onto good with everything I am. I will be a good friend, loving deeply and gladly taking a backseat at the right times.
I will not burn out; I will keep myself fueled and aflame (in your word). I will be cheerfully expectant (to see Your goodness).
I will not quit in hard times. Instead, I will pray all the harder (and trust you). I will help people in need and be inventive with my hospitality.
I won’t let evil get the best of me-I will get the best of evil by doing good (for you have created me in your image).
So, I, say to my Yesterday, I will “forget the former things; (I) do not dwell on the past.”(Isaiah 43:18 NIV), and to my Tomorrow, that “I will not worry about you, for tomorrow will take care for itself.” (Matthew 6:34 NASB) Then I, boldly declare to my today, (Psalms 118:24 GNT) “This is the day of the Lord’s victory; let us be happy, let us celebrate.”
Enjoying my today,
Chanda Rose
