Praying for Your Aging Parents..

Dear Friend,

I don't think I would ever get to the point where I would call my parent's "elderly', however as my mom has now reached retirement it has made me think of her and my dad differently. I am not worried about them, but I have concerns about them both. Things that I don't think I would have thought about two (2) or (3) three years ago. Both my parents are in fairly good health, but I found myself in this stage, changing my prayer targets for them both. I am going to be honest, I used to pray more selfishly (things concerning me), now I find myself praying more intentionally for their well being.

Whether you have realized it or not, your parents are a gift from God! Their time here is so precious. Every moment, is an opportunity to experience, their wisdom, their love and to just be in their presence. I am much more careful in cultivating those relationships. It used to be a time, when I would call my mother a few times a week, now i call her almost daily. I've realized that "time" is very important in my relationship with both of my parents, and I don't take it for granted. Here are scriptures I pray for my parents (I just insert their name):

For their Long life:

Psalms 91:16 "With long life I will satisfy him and show him my salvation."

For them to prosper and be in health:

3 John 1:2 "Dear friend, I pray that you may enjoy good health and that all may go well with you, even as your soul is getting along well."

For them to have the mind of Christ:

1 Corinthians 2:16, "for, "Who has known the mind of the Lord so as to instruct him?" But we have the mind of Christ."

Philippians 2:5 "Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus"

For the latter years to be their best years:

Job 8:7 "Your beginnings will seem humble, so prosperous will your future be."

For the spirit of Caleb to rise up in them and they fulfill their purpose. (At 85, Caleb was still fulfilling His Purpose)

Numbers 14:24, "But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him, and has followed me fully, I will bring into the [promised] land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it"

Praying for My Parents,
