A photographer out of Netherlands went to the Vienna, Austria, with the sole purpose of capturing the ground squirrel. He has taken several photos while there. However, this one captured his heart when he photographed a ground squirrel taking the time out of his day to smell the flowers, but eating them. Wow, what an awesome sight, the creature was taking in the splendor of creation. Day to day life can get very busy, but seeing this is a simple reminder to me that we should take the time to slow down to smell the flowers all around us. This picture reminds me of a scripture I found in Job.
Job 12:7-10, NLT “ Just ask the animals, and they will teach you. Ask the birds of the sky, and they will tell you. 8) Speak to the earth, and it will instruct you. Let the fish in the sea speak to you. 9) For they all know that my disaster has come form the hand of the Lord. 10) For the life of every living thing is in his hand, and the breath of every human being.
Isaiah 43:20 NLT “ The wild animals in the field will honor Me, The jackals, and the ostriches, Because I give water in the wilderness And rivers in the desert, To give drink to My people, My chosen.”
If the wild animals of the earth know how to take the time to show honor to the Creator, by loving on His creation which is a form of worship. Then I am left to asked, “where is our honor/worship to God?” Are we taking for granted the air we breath in? Are we taking the time to not just see the flower, but to stop and smell them? Are we giving Him thanks for water we drink? Our we loving on his creation (our brothers and sister)? Have we become so busy, that we just past by his creation, as if it wasn’t created just for us.
A song comes to mind by Hillsong, “So Will I”.
“If the stars were made to worship so will I
IF the mountains bow in reverence so will I
If the oceans roar Your greatness so will I
For if everything exist to lift You High so will I
If he rocks cry out in silence so will I……………..
