Outside the Lines..

Dear Friend

My baby girl is now a toddler! She explores the house all the time. She loves crayons, pencils, nail polish, lip gloss and markers. Her artistic talents drive her to use any medium or canvas for her masterpieces. It could be her hands, face, a wall or even the kitchen cabinets. In her mind there are limitless possibilities for where she will do her next Picasso. It’s me that’s struggling to keep her on the paper and in the lines!

Ephesians 5:1 says we are to “follow God's example, therefore, as dearly loved children!”

In her mind the wall, cabinet, face, hand, and sometimes paper are the canvas for her! She sees life through eyes of her purpose. I reflected on myself. At what point in my life did I lose that zeal and freedom to see the world and spheres I’ve been assigned to as a canvas for God’s glory and lose my focus. I could be drawing all over the place, creating, seeing God using my hands to draw out His plans for the ones connected to me. We should be connecting dots, and bringing life and color everywhere we go!

Order is key. But who has set the standard in your life? God’s plans for our lives are specific according to our purpose! God’s plans may foolish to someone else but it doesn’t matter! When Jesus was asked why He did what He did He responded with, “I only do what I see my Father do...” (See John 5:19) So my plans may call for me to live in a particular city, and serve a specific population. While yours may have you doing something similar but completely different. Likewise just because our plans are different that doesn’t mean there is something wrong with mine or even yours. It may look as I am coloring outside of the lines. But this is exactly what my plans have called for!

Today release fear, worry, doubt and simply surrender! Like Jesus come to the place of nevertheless and relinquish control and submit your will to His! Don’t be moved what others think! You remain obedient and seek the ONE who knows the plans! (See Jeremiah 29:11) Our lives are a masterpiece in the making!

Bound by His limitless love and grace,

Jess
