Resting in God's Will

Dear Friend,

In my morning devotional, bible reading, and prayer time, I was thinking of my job as a supervisor at a government shipyard. I have since retired but the managers all had a belief that resting workers where unproductive or lazy workers. They believed this regardless of the jobs they accomplished, or how soon after performing exhausting work they sat down for a “break”.

But this is not what God has shown us in the Bible.

Genesis 1:26-27 KJV

26“ And God said, Let us make man in our image , after our likeness and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all of the earth and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth. “

27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.

The work of mankind had been set, to have dominion over the whole earth on the sixth day, but something interesting happens on the seventh day, the first full day of man. God designates the 7th day a day of rest.

Genesis 2: 2-3

2 And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

3 And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made.

So today rest in the Lord, and know that resting is not idleness, but God’s will.

Resting,

Ronald P.
