Don't Focus on the Pain!

Dear Friend,

In his kindness God called you to share in his eternal glory by means of Christ Jesus. So after you have suffered a little while, he will restore, support, and strengthen you, and he will place you on a firm foundation.

1 Peter 5:10

Ever had pain so intense that you thought you couldn’t get beyond the moment? Or maybe it was so intense that you thought it was the only thing that could have your focus. Years ago, I was taking out the trash, and unbeknownst to me, there was a broken glass positioned toward the outside of the thin plastic bag. As I put the bag down to open the green receptacle, the glass tears a gaping hole into the front of my thigh. I was in shock at how it happened so swiftly. As I hobbled up the driveway into the house I came to the realization that it didn’t really hurt at all. It was more traumatizing to stare at it! But, later the greatest pain came when I had to get the wound numbed in order to be stitched. The needle had to go deep inside to expedite the necessary first steps to initiate the proper healing process! It hurt like crazy, but it was necessary...And now over twenty years later there is nothing left but a faint off-colored patch of skin and memory of the pain that doesn’t affect me in any way!

God is a healer and the Great Physician! He knows the plans for your now and future. Although, it may seem like whatever situation you’re going through or have gone through is painful, remember it’s just for a moment. During the process let Dr. Daddy God put His hands in the wound to clean, realign, or remove and reposition anything that doesn’t belong or is out of order. We will heal properly if we trust the process. The beauty behind a scar is the skin that once was is now stronger than it was before the injury. It’s a reminder that you overcame and you were victorious in a tumultuous situation.

Today shift your focus off of the pain! Keep your eyes fixed on God, and let your eyes look forward; fix your gaze straight ahead(Proverbs 4:25) Cast your pain upon The Healer and exchange all of your sorrow for His joy!

God heals,

Jess
