God What Am I Worth?

June 2, 2020

Dear Friend,

Please take your time, and meditate on your worth to God, this devotional is so good by my friend. D. Andrews

Good Morning Ladies (and few gents),

A Thought for the Day: “Whatever we did yesterday, whatever we’re battling today, whatever we may face tomorrow, the love of God for us and the grace of God toward us will never, ever change.” extracted from Secrets, Struggles and the Scandalous Love of God by Holley Gerth.

GiG, when was the last time you sat alone with God to contemplate your worth to Him? Hmmm, food for thought. I pray today will be that day.

This third I will put into the fire; I will refine them like silver and test them like gold. They will call on my name and I will answer them; I will say, ‘They are my people,’ and they will say, ‘The Lord is our God.’” Zechariah 13:9 NLT

While meditating on this passage of Scripture my mind went back to a field-trip with a group of 5th graders to San Diego’s Old Town some 17 years ago. Our tour guide took us through history as we walked, looked at, and held treasures of the past. My favorite demonstration was that of the blacksmith with apron on, tongues in hand, molding, refining, and shaping the iron horseshoe. He heated the metal until it glowed, he took it out, placed it on the anvil and pounded, turned, pounded it some more then back into the fire it went. He repeated this process over and over again until the impurities were gone, no visible cracks, and it was the shape he needed it to be for the purpose he had in store.

In Zechariah 13:9, God reminds us that throughout history whenever the whole nation of Israel seemed to turn against Him, God said that a righteous remnant trusted and followed him. These believers were refined through the fire of their difficult circumstances. Determined to remain faithful, walking in obedience regardless of what others of influence did. Can that be said of us today?

God’s promises are true. Obey Him no matter what the rest of the world does. But don’t get it twisted—mayhem or Messiah; you’ll need to choose. This may mean trials and troubles at times, but as fire purifies, we will be purified and made more like Christ.  What was dull becomes sharpened, crooked becomes straight, weak becomes strong, useless becomes valuable.

Yes, God’s promises are true—hold on and be strong! God can be depended upon to do just what He says He will do.

May we be encouraged in knowing that God is directing our path in such a way that we may be fit recipients of His promises.  And may our experiences of steadfastness be worthy of sharing with generations to come.

Called to serve and encouraging others to thrive,
