Open My Eyes

Dear Friend,

I need to admit something to you, I like to watch pranks being pulled on people. I think they are so funny, especially if they are not harmful. There are a few Youtubers that are really good at pulling pranks. Yesterday, I ran across a particular prank being conducted in a zoo. They had recorded a lions voice on a loudspeaker and every time they played it, they would take off running and people would run with them. The people didn't even know why they were running or the severity of what was going on, they just attached themselves to the man's fear and ran with them.

I began to meditate on this and think. How often do we attach ourselves to someone's fear, anxiety, worry, and experiences, instead of operating in "the" truth. Let's take a look at 1 Peter 5:8, 8 Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Key word in this scripture is "like", He is not a lion he appears to be one, he is harmless, he was ALREADY defeated. The next part of the verse says... Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. 10 And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and , 9 Remain steadfast. 11 To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

Let's look at our instructions from Peter:

1. Be Alert (watchful and prompt)

2. Be Sober (not affected by it)

3. Resist Him (oppose, combat, withstand)

4. Standing firm (hold out, resist, withstand. fight down, oppose, fight, fight back, defend)

and then Here's the Promise.......

5. The God of ALL GRACE will take care of everything.

I am often in awe at these pranks, and here is why, there is always a group of people who never run. They may react, but they never run and after they reflect for a moment, they sober up. They pause and reflect on the current situation, and some of them will even go investigate. They aren't moved by someone else's fear or worry, they go and seek out the truth. Will you? Can you imagine the ways we have been limited from the POWER of God operating in our lives, just because we have been living in the limited perspective of others (generational perspective, curses, thoughts and ideas), instead of being sober in God's truth. Wow, God remove the scales from my eyes, so that I can see in Jesus Name. Amen
