Keep Your Eyes on Jesus!

Matthew 14:28-31 (New International Version)

28"Lord, if it's you," Peter replied, "tell me to come to you on the water."

29"Come," he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, "Lord, save me!" 31Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. "You of little faith," he said, "why did you doubt?"

Recently I experienced a situation that left me feeling uneasy, uncomfortable and like I had been assaulted. I slowly realized that I was becoming distracted by the opposing forces against me (see Ephesians 6:12). Our Father is so awesome, He spoke a word to me and brought me to the above scripture. We know and have heard it preached numerous times that Peter took his eyes off Jesus; however there are two things that I am reminded of 1) Peter asked Jesus if it is you, "Bid Me to Come." We have all spent time

asking God to bless us, for more territory, for more promotion, for more opportunity..for more...more..more. In asking for the more, we have to remember that at NEW levels we require a NEW level of focus, which brings me to my second point 2) Yes, Peter took his eyes of Jesus, but He was distracted. If we put ourselves in his shoes at the moment, we can probably feel the wind blowing against us, see the waves get a little bit bigger, I am sure he THOUGHT he was going to sink, before he actually began to sink.

The enemy will always try to present us with distractions, whether it is strife, contention, dissension, doubt, worry, fear, lack, sickness or disease. He will always try to send us a distraction

to get you to question your Faith. We do NOT have to sink. Peter sunk because he was distracted. This is our opportunity to deal with the distractions and remember that our father JEHOVAH Jireh is our provider for everything. Philippians 4:19 says "My God supplies all my needs according to HIS riches in glory by Christ Jesus...that is not just your financial needs. He is rich in healing, in favor, in finances, in peace, in joy and in happiness. You just have to make sure that you keep your eyes on HIM!

Keeping MY Eyes On Him,

LMJ
