Dear Friends, In a book I read by Scott Webb, he tells of a story about a bear who was apart of a traveling circus. The bear had adapted to his environment and he never growled, or attempted to bite anyone. Daily the only thing he would do was walk back and forth inside of his cage. The bear basically lived in this world until someone with compassion saw him, and arranged for him to be moved to a local zoo. At the local zoo, he had plenty of room to roam around in an area th
Dear Friend, Please read, this is so powerful! GiG, I am tired. I missed out on keeping Sabbath on Sunday in order to attend my final EMDR training. I started my week in thought, “I have few words of encouragement for myself let alone clients today.” And what does God do but show up and show out. He had four former students/alumni contact me within minutes of one another. With each person, their stories of stress and triumph, frank honesty and openness wrapped in a desire to
Dear Friend, As I sat in my professor’s office, I was distraught and couldn’t figure out how I ended up there. Sure, there was only one test in each of my classes during the semester. In this program, the result of one test was my grade for the whole semester. I thought I knew the material. Everyday after class, I spent hours preparing for the next day of classes. Still, I found myself on academic probation. My professor posed several questions to me in an attempt to asse
Dear Friend, One afternoon I was out in front of my home sweeping off the front porch. My tribe of five ranging from ages 12 to 2, were actively moving about in the house. The funny part was how quiet and reserved they were while we were sitting together in the living room just minutes before. But it seemed just as soon as I stepped foot outside, they all went from zero to sixty in a matter moments. For some reason they thought because I was out of their sight then somehow I
I’m a 80s baby who absolutely loved the Karate Kid movies. One of my favorite scenes was the when Daniel had to wax the car. He had two simple steps... wax on, and wax off. They seemed like menial task until Mr. Miyagi has him repeat those same motions while training. For Daniel what seemed mundane and fruitfulness was really the foundation for his victory by the end of the movie!
I could only imagine how Joshua and the Israelites felt as they marched around
Dear Friend, A few years ago, I was having a really rough day. I was rushed, I had somewhere to be. A few things that I was working on were not turning out right. I was distracted by a current relationship, can I just be really honest? And all of this was going on not to mention I had an event later that night. Sheesh!!! I went to Walmart to pick something up and was backing my car out, and I will be honest my mind was on something else, on someone else and it wasn't on the g
Dear Friend, Jeremiah 31:25 (message bible) “I’ll refresh tired bodies; I’ll refresh tired souls.” As women, we often nourish those around us in our own strength, but we don’t always easily receive the nourishment of others in our weakness. In the above passage of scripture, I believe the Lord is trying to get us to receive him as Nourisher. God is the Almighty God (see Genesis 17:1). Almighty God in Hebrew mean El Shaddai. Scofield Commentaries says, “he qualifying word Sha
Dear Friend, With the arrival of Spring, many of my neighbors are doing yard work. Some are mowing the grass, trimming small bushes, and planting flowers. Others are doing more extensive work by pruning trees and cutting away the dead branches. Dead tree limbs are discarded on the curbs all along the neighborhood. The dead branches reminded me of this scripture: “I am the true grapevine, and my father is the gardener. He cuts off every branch of mine that doesn’t produce
Dear Friend, Check out some tidbits from the devotional written by my good friend from San Diego? Good Morning Ladies (and few gents), GiG, most of us can attest that our lives are jam-packed full of both wonderful and horrible things—some of which we didn’t think we would survive. OUCH or Amen! And yet, here we are, going strong and looking forward to the next chapter of life; convinced it is going to be a thrill ride that's just as breathtaking as the greatest roller coaste
Dear Friends, I turned on the television the other day, and “The Green Lantern” was showing. I have watched it before, but a particular scene caught my attention this time. In this scene one of the previous “Lantern’s” was talking to the now chosen “Lantern". He said, “As Lanterns we must fight with all our will. Our wills have not always been united. It’s time they were. With my own eyes, I saw this creature produce fear in our finest warriors and then feed on that fear."
