Chosen by God
Dear Friends,
I turned on the television the other day, and “The Green Lantern” was showing. I have watched it before, but a particular scene caught my attention this time. In this scene one of the previous “Lantern’s” was talking to the now chosen “Lantern". He said, “As Lanterns we must fight with all our will. Our wills have not always been united. It’s time they were. With my own eyes, I saw this creature produce fear in our finest warriors and then feed on that fear." Up until that moment a human had never been chosen to be a Lantern. However, the ring had chosen him. He didn’t see himself as fearless, but he was fearless because he faced his fears head on. He didn’t allow his fears to cause him to coward down. No, he stood face to face to this creature, and defeated it.
I want to share with you from one Christian in this fight of faith to another. As a Christian we must fight the good fight of faith (see I Timothy 6:12). Our wills have not always been united, but we must unite (see I Corinthians 1:10), our wills with the Will of the Father (see Romans 12:1-2). With my own eyes, I saw this Plague produce fear in our finest warriors and then feed on that fear. However, I need to us remember that “God will never give us a spirit of fear, but the Holy Spirit that gives your mighty power, love, and self control (see II Timothy I:7 TPT). Never forget that our God will remain with us until the completion of this age (See Matthew 28:20). We have been chosen by God the Father. I Peter I:2 TPT, “You are not forgotten, for you have been chosen and destined by Father God. The Holy Spirit has set you apart to be God’s holy ones, obedient followers of Jesus Christ who have been gloriously sprinkled with his blood. May God’s delightful grace and peace cascade over you many times over.
Like the human green lantern in the movie, you may not see yourself as fearless, but our God does. Psalm 112:8 NLT, “ They are confident and fearless and can face their foes triumphantly.” He has equipped us with everything we need to stand face to face with our adversary, with an assured VICTORY. I Corinthians 15:57 TPT, “But we thank God for giving us the victory as conquerors through our Lord Jesus Christ, the Anointed One.”
