Wax on, Wax off
Dear Friend, I’m a 80s baby who absolutely loved the Karate Kid movies. One of my favorite scenes was the when Daniel had to wax the car. He had two simple steps... wax on, and wax off. They seemed like menial task until Mr. Miyagi has him repeat those same motions while training. For Daniel what seemed mundane and fruitfulness was really the foundation for his victory by the end of the movie! I could only imagine how Joshua and the Israelites felt as they marched around the city of Jericho. They marched day after day and it seemed like nothing changed. See Joshua 6. The Lord himself gave Joshua specific instructions. They seemed simple but in the minds of these warriors how could this act result in victory. They had to trust in the Lord with everything in them regardless of what they thought. How many times do we get ‘simple’ instructions from the Lord and struggle to follow through? Whether it’s be quiet, sit still, don’t leave, just stay, say hi, give some more...the list could go on and on! Let us be reminded today that there is also victory on the other side of our obedience to the Lord’s instructions! It takes a choice and conscious effort to follow through. And we can rest assured that in our weakness we have the power of the Holy Spirit within to obey! Continue to obey even if looks like nothing is happening. Follow His instructions at all cost. Jess
