Living In the Overflow

Living in the Overflow by LaKisha M. Johnson

Proverbs 18: 30………………….From the fruit of their mouth a person's stomach is filled; with the harvest of their lips they are satisfied.

There are over seven-thousand promises of God in the bible? How many of them have you received? If the promises of God are yes and amen, why aren’t we walking in them? This morning, I am reminded that God came so that we can live life, and have life more abundantly. Then why aren’t we living in the promised “overflow’? Proverbs 18:30 says, “From the fruit of their mouth a person’s stomach is filled; with the harvest and their lips they are satisfied” Are our mouth’s in the way? The only reason we aren’t receiving God’s overflow in our life, is because our mouths do not line up with the Word of God and we have a lack of vision for what we want in our lives. The promises of God are yes and amen (2 Corinthians 1:20). So the vision that we have before needs to align with our purpose so that we can fulfill our destiny.

At the beginning of each year I sit down and write a vision for what I want the year to look like, I require my boys to do the same. I also find scriptures that are associated with that vision, so that I can speak that into our lives daily. I am trying to teach them to align their words with the Word of God, so that they learn to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7). A life of abundance is what God promised us (John 10:10), so then why aren’t we are experiencing God’s abundance? Most of us have been believing for just enough, enough for our needs to be met and nothing more, when God is saying, “No I need you in the overflow, because when you are in the overflow someone else can get what they need out of your cup, and you never get empty.”(Psalms 23:6) When Jesus started teaching in the sermon on the mountain, He gave us every biblical instruction on how to live, He told us not to worry, He told us how to pray, He told us how to be in faith. If you need a road map to live in the overflow, it was provided for us in that sermon. God’s design is for us to live abundantly so that we can advance His kingdom. He wants His will done here on earth, like it is in heaven. The only way we can do it, is if we began to experience and live in the overflow, the biblical promises of God for our life. If you need to know more about what this overflow looks like, find the promises that God has for you in His Word and confess it with your mouth. Then you will eat the “good fruit of your harvest”, the overflow.

Prayer: Father thank you for providing the biblical instructions for our life. There is a promise of abundance in your Word. Holy Spirit show us how to align our mouths so that we eat the good of our lips and not the bad. Thank you Father for the overflow, more than enough so that we are able to give to others. In Jesus Name. Amen
