God Will Provide!

Dear Friend,

Genesis 22:8, “Abraham answered, "God himself will provide the lamb for the burnt offering, my son." And the two of them went on together.”

About two and a half years (2 ½) after we lost Germaine, Judah began to get in the prayer circle and pray for him a daddy. I used to ignore it at first, but then one day he sat beside me on the couch and said, “Mom, I need a dad here on earth.” I am grateful for my dad in heaven, but I need one here on earth.” This also came with a suggestion for me to become a member of Christian mingle, Black People Meet and a stern warning that if I kept sitting on the couch doing nothing (of course faith without works is dead) they would never have a dad. At the beginning of this year, we were working on our goals for the year and I asked them, what did they need from God this year? They both said, “Mom we only want one thing a dad.” I just looked at both of them and shook my head, but was in complete awe at these two and how loving and pure their hearts were.

The year is half way over and I could tell Judah was getting a little restless. He wanted to know if God was listening to his prayers. All I kept hearing in my spirit, was to tell him “God will provide.” I was lead to this particular passage of scripture came from Genesis 22:1-12, God has requested that Abraham go and make Isaac the sacrifice, and out of sheer obedience Abraham left to go and sacrifice Issac (his promise) on the altar. Isaac asks Abraham, “Father where is the sacrifice (provision)?” Abraham insists that God, will provide. Perhaps you are in awe at Abraham’s ability to be obedient to God, but I believe Abraham, knew that God would provide, because God had already made him a promise, and his promise was lying on the altar. Abraham had enough faith to know; God would always provide and take care of it. Why, because he remained firm in the promise. This same comfort came over me, because of something the Lord promised me and for my sons after Germaine died. Isaiah 61:7, “Instead of your shame you will receive a double portion, and instead of disgrace you will rejoice in your inheritance. And so you will inherit a double portion in your land, and everlasting joy will be yours.”

I sat Judah on my knee, and I said, “Do you trust me? And you know that I trust God?"

And he said, “Yes ma’am I do!"

"I said good, so I promise you this, God will provide. His promise to me and you is that you will receive a double portion for all that you have already been through. Like God had a covenant and promise for Abraham, he has one for you.” His smile and big kiss let me know that he understood.

Prayer: Father, help me to remember my divine promises from you. You are a God that you will not and can’t lie, so the promises from you are yes and amen. I thank you for loving me and taking care of me and providing for me in every way. In Jesus Name. Amen
