Loose Lips Sink Ships..

Loose Lips Sink Ships by LaKisha M. Johnson

James 3:3-5 (ESV) If we put bits into the mouths of horses so that they obey us, we guide their whole bodies as well. Look at the ships also: though they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are guided by a very small rudder wherever the will of the pilot directs. So also the tongue is a small member, yet it boasts of great things. How great a forest is set ablaze by such a small fire.

We are in a spiritual battle!!!!!The information that we allow to seep out, leaves us floating on the open sea: it tells our position, our weaknesses and our next plan of action. Your tongue has the ability to steer you off course, to put you in harm’s way and determine your destiny. It becomes the map for your life. It is a MUST that you learn to guard your tongue with all due diligence. Loose, lips will sink ships. However there is a strategy for our life, found in a scripture, the war has been won all we have to do is follow the strategy.

Strategy: Use the following scriptures as a map for your destiny:

  • Proverbs 21:23: Whoever keeps his mouth and his tongue keeps himself out of trouble.

  • Psalm 141:3: Set a guard, O Lord, over my mouth; keep watch over the door of my lips!

  • Ephesians 4:29: Let no corrupting talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for building up, as fits the occasion, that it may give grace to those who hear.

  • Proverbs 18:21: Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruits.

  • Proverbs 13:3: Whoever guards his mouth preserves his life; he who opens wide his lips comes to ruin.

  • 1 Peter 3:10: For “Whoever desires to love life and see good days, let him keep his tongue from evil and his lips from speaking deceit;

  • Proverbs 18-21: Death and Life are in the power of the tongue, And those who love it will eat its fruit.

  • Matthew 12:35: A good man out of the good treasure of his heart brings forth good things, and evil man out of the evil treasure of his heart brings forth evil things. But I say to you that for every idle word men may speak, they will give account of it in the day of judgment. For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned.

Prayer: Father we pray this morning that we guard our mouths. Send your Holy Spirit to guide us so that we walk in wisdom and are not guided by our emotions. In Jesus Name. Amen
