A Rookie or A Pro? LaKisha M. Johnson

Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation………

Yesterday I was cleaning up the living room and I noticed that Judah (the younger brother) had pulled out his bicycle helmet. It was sitting on the living room sofa. I instructed him to come get it and put it up. He said, “I will mom. Then he looked at Josiah and said, “From here on out when I ride my bike I am going to wear my helmet, so that I can be safe.” Josiah said, “I wouldn’t, your helmet is only for when you are learning to ride your bike. When you get good at riding your bike, you really don’t need your helmet. I looked at Josiah and said, “Son, you are wrong, your helmet is needed even when you are a professional. Have you ever seen a professional bike rider without a helmet on? The helmet is to protect your head. It has nothing to do with your level of experience; it has everything to do with protecting any damage to your head.”

Yesterday, we learned that salvation was a gift. It is necessary for us to receive it and accept it in our life so that we can protect our “head” from the enemy. His assignment in life is to constantly attack who we are in Christ. If he can get us to forget the true meaning of our salvation, then we will believe and accept anything in our lives as being truth. Receiving salvation (putting our helmet on) is a necessity and its necessary daily. Acts 2:38, “Then Peter said to them, "Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit." The benefit to salvation is forgiveness of your sins, eternal life AND the gift of the HOLY SPIRIT. You need the Holy Spirit as your GPS in life. You need to the helmet on to protect you from satan’s deceitful lies. Ephesians 4: 22-24, In reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.” The helmet of salvation keeps you protected in your truth. The rookie will think you don’t need the helmet, but a pro will tell you how it can be the difference between life or death.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name I repent of my sins and open my heart to let Jesus come inside of me. Jesus, You are my Lord and Savior. I believe you died for my sins and you were raised from the dead. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank You Father for saving me in Jesus' name. Amen.
