Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation………
Have you ever sat and watched someone ride their bike? I have multiple times, especially my kids. I’ve also watched them fall multiple times. Most of the time when they fall they get back up, rarely have I ever seen them remove their helmet due to a fall. They get up, dust themselves back off and keep moving again, even if they have to walk beside the bike, they still don’t take the helmet off. The rationalization behind this is, if I fall again I still need to make sure my head is protected. A fall or injury could occur again.
For years I have heard people ask the question, once I am saved am I always saved? The answer is yes! Your salvation is a gift from God, He doesn’t give it to you, and then take it back from you. Once He has given it to you and you have received it, then He expects you to keep it. I know most of you are like, but what happens when I sin? Again you have to understand His Grace (favor that you can never earn). Proverbs 24:16 says, “ For the just man fall seven times, they rise again, but the wicked stumble when calamity strikes.” Anyone who keeps their salvation on, knows that the key is to repent (turn towards Christ) and keep moving forward. You can’t earn your salvation, this is a gift. God doesn’t remove the helmet from you, you can only take it off and put it away. So once you are saved, you are always saved, that’s the benefit of wearing the helmet of salvation. Now this doesn’t give us permission to live life recklessly, as a matter of fact if you truly understand your salvation, you won’t have a desire too. When we understand that salvation is rooted in love, our desire becomes to return that love to God. So if you fall off that bike, keep that helmet on. Paul said it best in Philippians 4:13-14 “Brothers, I do not consider that I have made it my own. But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead, I press on toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.”
Prayer: Heavenly Father, in Jesus' name I repent of my sins and open my heart to let Jesus come inside of me. Jesus, You are my Lord and Savior. I believe you died for my sins and you were raised from the dead. Fill me with your Holy Spirit. Thank You Father for saving me in Jesus' name. Amen.
