The Right Fit!
The Right Fit by LaKisha M. Johnson
Ephesians 6:17 And take the helmet of salvation………
As a little kid riding my bike, we never talked about the safety of the helmet. As I began to have kids, I was given information on how important it is to protect the head. Head injuries can cause trauma to the brain depending on the size, depth and severity of the injury. Wearing the proper protection can change anything. As my children began to grow, the size of the bike changed, but I also noticed that the size of the helmet needed to change, it needed to properly fit them at that phase in their life.
Our salvation is guaranteed, the helmet is taken on the minute we receive Christ as our Lord and Savior, but it isn’t effective if it doesn’t fit properly and you don’t understand how and why you need to wear it. The helmet of salvation, provides us with the truths of who we are in Christ. As we grow in Christ, the helmet should change, not that we lose our salvation, but we become more like Christ, the helmet grows or expands or gets bigger as we grow in Christ. Ephesians 5:1 says, “Imitate God, therefore, in everything you do, because you are his dear children.” That means our lives should replicate Christ, our helmet should look like his. As children, maybe not as much but as adults, It should for sure. Romans 12:2, reminds us to not conform to the patterns of this world, meaning we shouldn’t operate as the world operates, we should defy the worlds thinking and walk in the spirit, living with the Holy Spirit as guide. This mature thinking comes with living and wearing the right size helmet. As you grow your helmet should grow. Meditate on what that means for the renewing of your mind. The mind of Christ reflects, peace, joy, longsuffering, faithfulness, patience, love, gentleness, kindness and self-control (Galatians 5:22). If your helmet is properly fitted we should see all of these things in our lives.
Prayer: Heavenly Father, thank you for the helmet of salvation that you have given us through Jesus Christ. Help me to renew my mind, so that I can walk in the fullness of your glory, here on earth. In Jesus Name.
