The Breastplate- The Protection

The Breastplate of Righteousness- The Protection by LaKisha M. Johnson

Ephesians 6:14 with the breast plate of righteousness………

I don’t know a lot about baseball, but I like to watch it. I have always been most intrigued with behind home-plate. The action that occurs out in the field, and in between bases is awesome, but home plate has always intrigued me most. It seems like the most intense action occurs behind home plate, which also makes me pay attention to the difference in what the catcher and the umpire wears versus other players. Both of those individuals have on a face mask and also coverage for their chest area down to their loins, this is to protect them from damage to their face, chest, legs or groin. There is more risk for harm for a player behind home plate, but being properly protected keeps them safe.

Just like in baseball, sometimes life throws you a curve ball, pop up or a fly ball. You weren’t expecting this, but IF you have the breastplate of righteousness in place, you can be sure that you are well protected. The breast plate of righteousness comes with your obedience to God. It protects you from the blows that come from an unexpected direction. You can’t earn this, it comes with salvation. It comes from saying, God I trust you and I want to walk this thing out according to purpose. Like the umpire and the catcher, It comes from following the rules and directions of baseball. For us that is things like tithing (Malachi 3:10), not forsaking the assembly (Hebrews 10:25) and walking in love (Colossians 3: 14), just to name a few. Walking in obedience to God (being right standing), assures us that a weapon may form, but it will not prosper (Isaiah 54:17). Make sure that you put your breastplate, be obedient to protect you from the blows.

Prayer: Heavenly Father, please forgive me any time I have been disobedient, I need you and your protection, I need your favor and will for my life. Show me the ways in my life, that don’t align with you. In Jesus Name. Amen
