No More Second Guessing!
No more second guessing……. by LaKisha M. Johnson
Jeremiah 29:11, “For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.”
I was a college professor for 12 years, and I have always taught my students to never second guess on an exam. Often I have seen students; second guess what they are sure about, what they know to be the absolute truth. They will take an exam, and come back and change an answer. I don’t know what is inside us, that makes us second guess ourselves, but we tend to do this same thing in life. We will start to second guess, what God has said to us, and about us. Either we began to compare ourselves, to others, see an alternative, or maybe it looks like what He said is happening, is just the opposite. Whatever it is, it causes us to second guess, what He said, what we know to the infallible truth.
However, the promises of God are yes and amen (2 Cor 1:20). Just like you spent the time you have spent studying for the exam, you know, you know what you know. It’s the same for the promises of God in your life, you know what you know. His promises for you don’t change. You need to just “rest” in what He said. James 1:8 says, “A double minded man is in unstable in all his ways.” To be double minded means, to be two folded, fickled, out of faith, restless and inconstant. So if we are double minded then we are out of faith, and we know without faith it is impossible to please God. Whatever the situation is, no more second guessing, God. His plans for you are declared over and over again, you just need to accept it to be truth. Much like my students on an exam, when we second guess, we miss that question, when we would have had it right. I believe we cause a super natural delay, by second guessing God. This is the season for some of us, of no delays, let’s not stand in our own way. Gird yourself with truth (Ephesians 6:14) and declare, “No more second guessing, today. Let the promises of God be yes and amen in my life. In Jesus Name. Amen”
Prayer: Father we thank you that your thoughts are not our thoughts, and your ways are not our ways (Isaiah 55:5) . Thank you for thinking of us, more than we think of ourselves. Holy Spirit, charge us with accountability, so that we don’t second guess God any more.
