He Will Contend With Those by LaKisha M. Johnson

“Psalms 35:1, Contend O LORD, with those who contend with me; Fight against those who fight against me.”

I remember one time talking to my grandmother about who didn’t like me. I was giving her a list of people that I thought didn’t like me. My grandmother is a wise but funny woman, she was firm in her word. She just looked at me and said, You spend too much time on who doesn’t like you, God ain’t worried about your enemies. Then she gave Psalms 51 to read and Psalms 37. As I get older, and especially when the term “hater” came into existence, I began to understand exactly, what my grandmother was talking about. She was so kind, people always thought people were getting over on her, I remember my grandmother saying, “Ain’t nobody get over on me, believe me.” She was determined to act in love, but I found out later my grandmother possessed the same secret that David, did. She knew if she called upon the name of the God that He was going before her on her behalf.

David, may not have always lived life perfectly, but he was firm in knowing he was a man after God’s (Acts 13:22) own heart, and that he served a God, that would vindicate (Psalms 43:1) him. David knew what God had promised him, so any time it looked like the enemy was advancing; David would drop to His knees, and simply pray a prayer for God to move on his behalf, and then he would position himself for the win. He would simply remind God, this isn’t lining up with what you promised me, you need to deal with your people. The same thing remains for you, if you know you have a promise from God, and it looks like some “hater” is in your way, recall your promise and ask God to deal with your “haters” whomever they may be spirit or flesh. I promise the God, we served loves to vindicate us, so that He can get the Glory out of our lives, so when it seems like the pressure is up, the answer is on your knees. And if you know someone is the problem, bless them out your mouth and in action and deed (1 Peter 3:9) .

Prayer: Father contend with those that contend with me. Do not allow my enemy to advance against me. Every assignment of the enemy against my life, is cancelled now in Jesus name, according to your word in Jesus Name. Amen
