Seemed Like the Right Way but Headecd in the Wrong Direction….…. By LaKisha M. Johnson
Isaiah 26:7, “The path of the righteous is level; you, the Upright One, make the way of the righteous smooth.”
Scripture References: Isaiah 27:3, Philippians 3:13, Jeremiah29:11, Psalms 32:8 and read the story of Jonah.
Last week I decided to reverse my walking route. I decided to do it in the opposite direction. At first it seemed right, I mean after all I was only taking the same route, just in a different direction. As I began walking in reverse, I began to notice different things, but I also started feeling a little off balance. The route that I walk provides a certain resistance for my legs and I noticed that the same incline wasn’t in the opposite direction. The incline was building up muscle. I continued to walk the path and rounded a few of the same corners, but noticed that my stride and speed was off, I was moving much slower. The sidewalk didn’t seem as familiar this way. As a matter of fact, I was a little wobbly. As I began to make a transition around another corner, I became nervous, because cars were speeding past me, I didn’t realize that I was walking with the flow of traffic, not against it. That meant I couldn’t see if I was in danger or not. As I began to walk up the next part of the bridge, my feet were thrown off, I almost slipped trying to pay attention to the ground beneath me, I was so unsure. As I got to the end of my two and a half miles, I didn’t feel the same, but didn’t I end up in the same place? I was back where I started.
As I was sitting there, the Holy Spirit reminded me of the path that was chosen for me, although it seemed like I chose the walk route, it was actually God leading me all of the time. When I reversed the route it seemed like the right way, but I was headed in the wrong direction. I realized this route placed me in danger and caused me to be unsure of my steps . What can we learn from this?
There is only one path that God has for you, you can choose a different direction, but it isn’t designed for you. It won’t provide you with what you need to build your faith.
When you are on the wrong path, you are using leading the way, not God, which means you don’t have His wisdom, His guidance and the Holy Spirit.
When you are on the wrong path, you are in harm’s way you expose yourself to danger. There is a protection that comes with walking the path He chose for us.
God has chosen the path He has chosen for you for a reason, don’t rebel against His plan for you, rebellion is a sin and will only open the door to the enemy.
Prayer: Father narrow is the path, that you have for us. Please provide a way of escape so that we can walk out your plan for our life. We want you to get the ultimate glory for our lives.
