God's Masterpiece; Broken Crayons Still Color!

January 1, 2018,

Dear Friend,

I have been pondering over this saying for the last few weeks, "Broken Crayons Still Color", I have seen the books, the quotes, the sermons and all the messages and all seem to emphasize the same context.

I am still useful in my brokenness. I am sure by now we all understand the concept, the idea is that you can still use a broken crayon, that it doesn't mean it's not a crayon because it's broken it simply means, it may not look like it should, it may not appear to function as it should, but if you give it a chance, it will still color, it will still produce a work of art. Because it is broken doesn't meant it doesn't lose it's function.

People are the same way, we give up on people way too soon. Broken people, are broken, but it doesn't mean that they aren't useful and don't serve a purpose in our lives. If they are broken they may not understand the purpose that they serve, who they are in Christ. As a matter of fact, because they are broken they most likely believe they are no longer useful. And if we are honest about our own lives, we weren't as effective when we were broken, we made mistakes, we didn't always handle people in care, we said the wrong things, we made the wrong decisions. So how is it we lose the same compassion for other broken people? They still color, they still have purpose, they still need love.

Before you go into 2018 canceling people out your life, because of their brokenness, because they weren't able to do or act accordingly to how you thought they were supposed to act, ask your self a few questions. Do they still color? Have I given them the chance they needed to succeed? Have I honestly submitted them in prayer, how much time did i spend interceding for them? Did we go to counseling? Did we really give it all we got? I keep trying to find the scriptures in the bible that say we are supposed to "cut people off", I haven't found them yet. As a matter of fact, everything I find says the complete opposite. Ephesians 3:20, "Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you." And what the Lord keeps showing me is that they are still HIS masterpiece (Ephesians 2:10).

Once I was broken too,

LMJ
