Say what you mean and do what you say...

Dear Friend,

I remember when I was a little girl my mom had gotten on me about lying, I had gotten a spanking and everything. I can’t remember what I lied about, but I am sure I thought that I could justify it. I thought it was necessary, or I was trying to keep myself out of trouble. Whatever the reason, it didn’t matter my mom was on me about lying. She was adamant that I should NOT lie.

The next day I was home with my mom and the phone rang, when I answered it was someone who asked for my mom. I went and told my mom, that the phone was her. I told her who it was. She said, “Just tell them I am busy or not home.” I paused for a minute and just looked at her. I stared for a long time. My mom said, “What?” I knew better than to say anything. I walked out the room, I didn’t say anything, because I knew that I would get in trouble. But in my head, I simply said, “Now isn’t that a lie? She told me not, to lie but she told me to lie to the person on the phone.” (by the way my mom operates in integrity and character, it was a moment) Galatians 6:3 says, “ If they anyone thinks they are something when they are not they deceive themselves.” We have to be very careful that our actions and our words line up (See 1 John 4:20, 1 Peter 2:16, Mark 7:6 and Titus 1:16). Remember someone is always watching us, we are the living Word and example to them. They will identify more with us living in our truths, than us living a life that is contrary to what they. Say what you mean, and do what you say.
