Stay Woke...

Dear Friend,

Recently the socially conscious term "stay woke" started circulating in communities, advising people to keep informed of what was going on around them and in their communities. The term was to encourage people to be conscious of their environment and not to believe just what they see to be the only "truth". The funny thing is the "bible" has been warning us to "stay woke" for quiet some time. To be conscious of what's around us, to learn your enemy and to give us the tactics and strategies that we need for our lives (see 1 Peter 5:8) . I am for remaining politically conscious, but nothing that is happening now, hasn't happened before (see Ecclesiastes 1:9).

1 Thessalonians 5:4-6, "But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. So then let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober." God has already given us strategies to "stay woke". He commissioned us to remain sober, in love, in faith, in hope and to pray without ceasing (see 1 Thessalonians 8-10 and 16-19). The bible provides for us the strategies for successful living and how to deal with those that try to penetrate our communities and keep us from our kingdom successes. It's foolproof and it is found in prayer. God provides us an answer and a strategy for everything need, but we have to be in communion with Him in order to receive it. To know the will of the Father is to develop an intimate relationship with Him in prayer (see John 10:27). God longs to provide these strategies you need to see you win, just ask Him.
