It wasn't what I thought it was...
Dear Friend, While on my way to work there are a set of railroad tracks near my sons’ school. Most of the time they are clear and there’s no train. But on this particular morning, the signal lights were blaring and a train was barreling down the track. I approached the tracks as usually, but the words coming out of my mouth were different. In most cases, I’d find a reason to complain about the wait. Instead I simply said, “Lord thank you for the train!” (And I actually meant it.) As I sat patiently, I waited for about...30 seconds! Yes!!! Only 30 seconds! It was just a train engine with no cars attached! 1 Thessalonians 5:18 says to “give thanks in ALL things!!!” If I had reacted based on what I thought was going to happen I would’ve sent my self up for a set back. Instead I thanked God for the quiet moment with my children before school! Today, slow down and be slow to reacting to situations that give the appearance that something negative is about to happen! Take a deep breath and let praise and thanksgiving flow from your heart! Perspective shapes your reality! And from now on I strive to choose to see things from a positive perspective!
Choosing to see life from a different set of lenses,
Jess
