Break The Fast

Dear Friend,

We are in a season of fasting and praying, read more clarity on Fasting in Isaiah 58. It helps to provide more clarity and vision for our lives. Jesus "when" you fast, not if (see Matthew 6:16). This week on Coffee and Conversations we walked through the process of the fast. I want to close this week out with, how to properly break the fast so that you don't traumatize yourself. Fasting cleanses your body both physically and spiritually so it is important that you break the fast correctly. Here are some things I found in an article on breaking the fast:

Here are some suggestions to help you end your fast properly:

  • Break an extended water fast with fruit such as watermelon.

  • While continuing to drink fruit or vegetable juices, add the following:

  • First day: Add a raw salad.

  • Second day: Add baked or boiled potato, no butter or seasoning.

  • Third day: Add a steamed vegetable.

  • Thereafter: Begin to reintroduce your normal diet.

  • Gradually return to regular eating with several small snacks during the first few days. Start with a little soup and fresh fruit such as watermelon and cantaloupe. Advance to a few tablespoons of solid foods such as raw fruits and vegetables or a raw salad and baked potato.

Some final things to remember: Keep a journal while fasting, remain pure in what you listen to, spend time praying and recording what the Lord is saying to you in this season. The fast should create in you a clean heart and renew your spirit as it does your body. I am praying and believing for you. Meditate on Psalms 51 during the process.

Blessings To You Always,

LMJ
