Pride...and Dominoes

Dear Friend,

Good morning I wrote this devotional last November but was lead to share it today!

Hey You,

Yeah You, we have to deal with the real issue here. This pride thing, has a sneaky way of taking over our lives. Most of us don't even know we operate in it, we have cloaked it in a carnal humility that has taught us, if we say we are humble, then we have to be humble, right?

There are so many sneaky ways for pride to get in, and all of it comes from the "root" of something (we are going to figure this out tomorrow), but today we have to recognize the issue here, most of still walk in some level of pride. It came from the fall, when Eve made a decision to eat the "fruit", the forbidden fruit. Apparently she allowed the "serpent" to convince her, she needed to be like God. In some way he convinced her that, she could take better care of herself than God could, i think we have all thought that before. We've been in a position when God has asked you to do something or to not do something and you decided you were going to do what you, thought was best.

We have got to be kidding ourselves right? There is no way we believe that we know better than God. He gives us clear direction and vision for our lives, why do we make it so hard on ourselves, by governing ourselves according to us? Haven't we seen how much trouble we get ourselves in? Well here is the thing that helped me most lately, God demonstrated and showed me how pride was related to dominoes in my life. I set up a set of dominoes on the table and knocked them over. He said, "That's exactly what happens when you walk in pride, it not only effects you but it impacts and effects, everyone that you are attached to and everything you are attached to." My heart began to sink, I didn't want my foolishness to affect the people connected to me. Proverbs 16:18,"Pride goes before destruction, a haughty spirit before a fall". But it isn't just your fall, it is the fall of EVERYTHING and EVERYONE you are connected.

I love that fact that God is a God of solutions, He doesn't just tell us whats wrong with us, He tells us how to fix it. 2 Chronicles 7: 14, "If my people, which are called by my name, shall humble themselves, and pray, and seek my face, and turn from their wicked ways; then will I hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin, and will heal their land." It's more simple than you think, identify the problem, repent of that mess and ask God to forgive you and heal the things around you that have been effected by your prided. God always loves to restore relationship with Him and with others.

I hope today helped you, it helped me. Here are 7 signs to know you are prideful. I am going to include the link so that you can read more on it. God's desire is for us to walk in our full benefit package for our lives, pride destroys that and keeps us from receiving God's best. So let's abandon our pride, so God can heal our land.
