God is not a "goal"!
Dear Friend,
Once upon a time I had added God to my checklist. I had added him to the list of things to do daily. Checking him off every morning as if I had accomplished a task. He was a goal on my list, something to say I had accomplished as well as a list of other things. As I sat meditating on this, I thought what would be my measurement, how would I know that I had accomplished this goal? I realized that if I left God "as" a goal, then I was putting Him in comparison to something in which I could not compare, bringing Him down to my level, as if He could ever be...
God can't be compared to anything, He is omnipotent, all powerful, provider, protector, sovereign, just, fair, loving and there is nothing or no one to whom He can be compared. I first tried to justify, and say well I can compare according to where I was last year, by the amount of time that I spend, but again should God be measured in quantity? Should we limit the relationship to the amount of time that we spend? How do we know the time that we spend is enough time? In Joshua 1:7-8 we see a unique conversation on how important it is for us to study the Word of God, " above all, be strong and very courageous. Be careful to observe all the law My servant Moses commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right or to the left, so that you may prosper wherever you go. This book of instruction must not depart from your mouth; you are to recite it day and night, so that you may carefully observe everything written in it. For then you will prosper and succeed in all you do." This emphasizes the necessity of God's involvement in everything that we do, our success in life is predicated upon God, being intertwined in all we do! Again, God IS the Goal..
