Pinocchio Syndrome...

Dear Friend,

The was a movie coming up that I enjoyed. It was about young boy made out of wood who came to life. And since he was made out of wood, he didn’t have common sense. Because of his lack of intuition and wisdom he was assigned a guide. His name was Jiminy Cricket. Jiminy served as the boy’s conscience. He kept Pinocchio out of trouble as much as he could. But at the end of the day the choice was always up to Pinocchio. He had to choose whether or not he would listen to him or listen to himself.

We may not be made out of wood and have cricket chirping wisdom on our shoulder; but we do have the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own but will tell you what he has heard. He will tell you about the future. John 16:13 And just like Pinocchio we have to make a choice to trust ourselves or the guide (The Holy Spirit) who walks with us everywhere that we go.

This can be difficult if you choose to do ‘whatcha wanna do’ because you’re grown...We should always recognize the voice of God and keep our hearts tender before Him. There was saying I heard once, “Always let your conscience be your guide.” Well I’ve found that not necessarily the case! The one, true and living guide for my life will be the Holy Spirit. He’s ready, available, and always speaking. No matter the circumstance you can pause and ask Him for help. We must embrace the fullness of power we have through the triune nature of God. We must understand him as Father God, Jesus the Son, and as the Holy Spirit.

Today’s Prayer: Father God, I thank you for sending your son Jesus to die for my sins. And since he sacrificed his life me and shed his precious blood for me I have the Holy Spirit with me. Give me ears to hear him clearly and grace to trust him with everything in my life. I need your grace today to lean only on your understanding and not my own (Proverbs 3:5-7) I don’t know it all, but you do! Thank you Father for your Holy Spirit! In Jesus’ name, amen!
