Love is Patient...
Dear Friend,
So I have a confession, I have always been a good friend, but often impatient. I used to want everything to work out immediately. Sometimes I would push too hard, I push too far and I push too soon. It wasn’t until I almost lost a good friend, that I realized how damaging my actions were.
I was so busy trying to “fix” her, that I didn’t realize she didn’t need to be “fixed”. I wasn’t her “savior”, my only job was to love her. Matthew 22:37-8 says, “Jesus declared, “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and your neighbor as yourself.’ He didn’t say “fix” your neighbor, or change your neighbor, He said love your neighbor. And what I have learned more than anything is that love is patient, and there is no time limit on that patience.
1 Cor 13:4, reminds us to be long suffering in our love, how long? As long as it takes! We have to remember the same amount of patience we needed, is the same amount of patience that we have to extend. It’s called Grace! God isn’t looking for us to be his little handyman (or woman), He is looking for us to extend His love to others as He has done the same to us.
Learning to Love Patiently,
