Unplug.....

Dear Friend, You cannot do anything now a days without taking your phone. And your phone isn’t just for making and receiving calls. But there are apps that allow you to record your habits like eating, and sleeping. They remind you when to drink, breathe, and stand. When to call your mom, and to go to the dentist. Oh, but it doesn’t stop there...we have social media that is one the most oxymoronic words because you never leave your home to interact with the hundreds of people around you. Our world is technology saturated and we are constantly pushed with reminders through notifications! I got ready to put another reminder in my phone and then set another alarm until I got a notification. This wasn’t a notification that popped up on the screen of my phone but rather the screen of my heart. It was the Holy Spirit. He simply said,”Jess, you know you can ask me to remind you!” I immediately put my phone down and stopped and I asked Him to help me with the situation. The Holy Spirit is able to help us with everything! That’s exactly what He is...our help! His notifications are convictions, not condemnation. He gently nudges us not to judge but to help us! John 14:26 says, But when the Father sends the Advocate as my representative—that is, the Holy Spirit—he will teach you everything and will remind you of everything I have told you. What did God tell us...we find it in His Word! How do we speak, and handle to relationships around us...it’s in His Word. He’s our reminder! He’s the only “app” we need! I’m pretty sure Joseph in the Old Testament didn’t need an alarms or reminders set throughout the day to remember what Potiphar had assigned to him. Or better yet, do you think Mary had a “What to Do When Your Expecting” app to log her pregnancy with Jesus...I think not! They both relied and trusted in the God they served. He has not changed so let us do the same! Prayer: Father God, I repent for trusting in myself. Forgive me and cleanse me from all unrighteousness. I know that you said you’ll never leave me or forsake me. I know that you are with me everywhere I go. Let me seek your wisdom and consult you on everything in every situation! Where I am weak help me to trust the greater one in me. In Jesus’ name, amen! Unplugged and Tech Free, Jess
