Too much of a Good Thing...

Dear Friend,

The other day I let my sweet tooth get the best of me. I went to the store to get one donut for each of us and left out with 7. I ate two in the car, and took the other 5 home. By the time I got in the house the boys were diving up which donates they wanted because it was a mixture.

They were asking me what donut I wanted, I should have said none, but again my “sweet tooth” got the best of me. I ate the last donut with a good cup of coffee, laid down and took a nap. As I woke up, I had a mild toothache, a mild one. As I was getting up I heard God ask, was that wise, “No sir, it wasn’t!”, LaKisha; all things may be good but not good for you (see 1 Cor 6:12). Yes sir, was my gentle reply because I knew there was no need for me to “buck the system”, I knew better. I knew also there was no wisdom in me eating donuts like that. I repented for gluttony and reminded myself of what happens when I binge.

The thing that stood out was that this was a gentle reminder, I then started thinking how gentle this reminder was, how our Father is so gentle with us and gives us time to correct ourselves (see Hebrew 2:1,1 Cor 11:31). I also thought about how many times did I miss mild warning for a harsher reprimand later....I’ll take the softer reprimand now......

God is a faithful God in our development process, and a rewarder (of wisdom too) of those that diligently seek Him.

I Stand Corrected,

LMJ
