Just Like Daddy...

Dear Friend,

Recently I asked Judah if he remembered much about daddy (my husband, their father died five years ago). He said, "No ma'am I do not." I could see the sadness on his face. I just looked at him and gave him a big hug. Two days later we were serving food and water with our Feed the Streets ministry team. I need to set the scene. It was hot and we had been out all day, but I had promised food to some people who were sleep by the Salvation army. The boys and I returned there to hand out the food we saved and water. As we were handing out the last of the sacks and water a man walked up and Judah said, "Sir would you like water!" The man said, "Yes I would." Judah said, "What about two (2)?" He said, "That works!"

Something in the man's voice and face seemed very familiar. I looked at him and said, "I know you!" He said, " Ma'am I hope not because I used to be horrible!" I said, "I do know you, what's your name?" He said, "Freeman". I said, "Yes, that confirms it I met you years ago down at the riverfront. My husband and I used to come and feed with the "Hot Dog Lady!". He looked up and said, " Ma'am, I remember your husband gave me the shoes off his feet!" I told him, "We lost him a few years ago!" These are his baby boys, they weren't even born yet. He looked and addressed them and said, "Your dad was a good man. I told him I liked his shoes, and he gave me the shoes off his feet. He and your mom had a policy, that if someone liked something, they would give it to them. With a sorrowful look and shook his head he said, "You guys have a lot to be proud of. Your dad was something else!"

I love God! As we were turning to walk, I could see Judah stand up taller, walk proud and with a different level of confidence. God would use this man to provide a memory for Him of his dad, of just how selfless he (Germaine) was."You guys are serving our brother's and sisters on the streets, just like daddy did!" Proverbs 13:22, A good person leaves an inheritance for their children's children, but a sinner's wealth is stored up for the righteous.

Blessed and Amazed,

LMJ

P.S. I remember this picture clearly, they were so proud to put on their dad's clothes, they wanted to be "just" like daddy!
