Failure to Launch
Dear Friends,
I watched a movie called, “Failure to Launch.” It’s a comedy about a young man who continues to live at home, and who enjoys being taken care of by his parents. He encountered a real life struggle, the death of someone he loved and found himself stuck. He couldn't seem to move on. His parent had grown tired, and felt he would never launch out on his own. He seemed to have little motivation to leave them, and was okay with how things were. I, too, have experienced many places in my life where I have failed to launch. Sometimes it was just the fear of failing that stopped me, other times it was my lack of faith, and if I am honest sometimes it was just plain lazy.
However, none of these excuses weighed heavy enough as a reason for me not to launch out in faith.
LUKE 5:4 KJV “NOW WHEN HE HAD LEFT SPEAKING, HE SAID UNTO SIMON, LAUNCH OUT INTO THE DEEP, AND LET DOWN YOUR NET FOR A DRAUGHT (CATCH).”
After Simon (Peter) had told him about how they had worked all night, He decided to go ahead and obey. How many of us have given every excuse we could about why we shouldn’t launch out?
Can we take a real look at Simon Peter’s obedience and what it yield him.
LUKE 5:6 “WHEN THEY HAD DONE SO, THEY CAUGHT SUCH A LARGE NUMBER OF FISH THAT THEIR NETS BEGAN TO BREAK.” 7)”SO THEY SIGNALED TO THEIR PARTNERS IN THE OTHER BOAT TO COME HELP THEM, AND THEY CAME AND FILLED BOTH BOATS SO FULL THAT THEY BEGAN TO SINK.
Hey, if you know God has told you to launch, and you do not know where to start. Seek the Holy Spirit for wisdom, and can I tell you about an amazing book called “The Launch” by Lakisha M. Johnson. It is a 10 day devotional that will cause you to launch out into whatever vision God has given you. You will not be disappointed. It has blessed my soul, and reignited a fire within me.
I decree and declare that our days of “Failing to Launch” are now over.
We Launching,
Chanda Rose
