How to Deep is Your Love?
Dear Friends,
Above all, love each other deeply because love covers a multitude of sins. I Peter 4:8
A group named the “Bee Gees” released in 1977 called, “How deep is your love? Some of the lyrics read:
“I believe in you
You know the door to my very soul
You’re the light in my deepest, darkest hour
You’re my savior when I fall
And you may not think I care for you
When you know down inside
That I really do
And it’s me you need to show
How deep is your love?”
Are those around you feeling the depth of your love, or like the “Bee Gees” song lyrics they are still longing to know how deep your love is towards them?
When we love someone, it’s us choosing to love. It’s us choosing to see the good things in that person. It’s us choosing to look past the darkness and see the light in them. It’s us choosing to overlook the characteristic flaws and loving them with the love of Christ.
So, I asked this question, just how deep does your love go?
Does your love compel others?
2 Corinthians 5:14 (NIV)“For Christ loves compels us…….”
Does your love forgive?
I Corinthians 13:7 (WE) “Love forgives everything. Love is always trusting, and always hoping, and never gives up.
Is your love willing to lay down its life (our ways of thinking, doing, and our one-sided perspective)?
John 15 :13 (KJV)“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Does your love cover others deceit, failures, daily irritations, mistakes, and betrayal?
1 Peter 4:8 (NIV)“Above all, love each other deeply because love covers a multitude of sins.”
Will your love remain?
John 15:9 (NIV) “As the Father has loved me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love.”
Remember my friends the 15 characteristic of love that Paul wrote about in I Corinthians 13:4-7 (NIV)
Love is patient. Love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5) It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking,
It’s not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6) Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7) It always protects, always trust,
always hopes, always preserves.
Prayer: Lord, may you help us in every hour, minute, and second of the day to love like you. May our love be so rooted in you, that it overflows to those around us.
