Alert!
Dear Friends,
A severe weather siren is to design to alert people who are outside that something dangerous is about to take place. For as far back as I can remember these sirens have been tested each week on Wednesday’s at noon, to assure that they are functioning properly. If you hear the siren, our best reaction would be to good indoors and turn on the local news channel for more information. Some people have even purchased storm shelters, which is a type of underground bunker designed to protect the occupants from violent winds, and debris.
We often quote Psalm 91 but have really digested it as the infallible truth. Knowing that is the shelter we should seek, when the sirens of life are alerting us that something dangerous or severe is about to take place. Can I ask you if there any sirens going off in your health, marriage, family, relationships, finance, or any area of your life? If so, God has prepared a shelter for you in Him. The Weather Alert system says, “Hearing a siren is a signal to move indoors and seek additional information. It does not mean the threat has ended when the siren stops sounding.”
In today’s devotional, I would like to share with you how I have broken down Psalm 91, verses 1-4, bit by bit for myself to properly digest. If you have followed LMJ Ministries, for any time, you can often catch Lakisha, saying, “small bites still equal a meal.” So, I share generously my small meal with you today. I pray it awaken your spirit, body, and soul to the truth that you have a safe place to run, when the sirens of life alert us.
Psalm 91:1-4 NIV (emphasis added)
Whoever (that means it’s for who ever want it) dwells (to live or stay as a permanent resident) in the shelter (the protection or refuge) of the Most High will rest (a refreshing ease or inactivity after exertion)(after you have done it your way and ready to rest, He will give just that) in the shadow (shade where It’s nice and cool) of the Almighty. 2) I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge (sheltered from pursuit, danger, or trouble) and fortress (not susceptible to outside influence or disturbance) my God, in who I trust (reliance on the integrity, strength, surety of a person; confidence). 3) Surely (without fail) He will save (rescue from danger or possible harm, injury, or lost) from the fowler’s (a hunter of bird) snare (anything serving to entrap or entangle unawares, a trap) and from the deadly pestilence (something that is considered harmful, destructive, or evil). 4) He will cover ( as for protection or concealment) you with His feathers, and under his wings (the protective care of God) you will find refuge, His faithfulness will be your shield (to serve as a protection for) and rampart (fortification, serving as a defense).
