IN His Image

Dear Friend,

How beautiful is it that we, humans, were created in the image of the one who created the universe? I've written before on how when we are most attentive to the world around us, we are able to get glimpses of the God of the universe.

These past few weeks I've been reminded of the God of community. As I've lived life at a slower pace these weeks my spirit has been reintroduced to the beauty of two or more gathered together; and how when we allow it, the power that is transferred here on earth.

On an early morning run, I watched as a mother duck guided her ducklings across a road. I watched how carefree they all were as they played and rough housed; clearly understanding that they were safe with her care and under her watch. I was reminded of how safe we can be in the company of those that love us; on how this security is bestie let amongst others.

I've watched daily how my younger brothers, and sisters, and dad work together to help my mother keep a house running. How each person has a role whether it be wiping down the counter tops or bringing the laundry down or sweeping the floors; the house is a buzz as everyone rallies together to keep the home a home. I watched as my dad, after a long day of working and standing on his feet, mowed the lawn, then came inside and washed the dishes all before sitting down to his dinner, which my mother cooked from scratch. I was reminded of the importance of everyone working together, of everyone fulling a role, of everyone finding their value in order to help all of us thrive.

Finally, I experienced the love that can be felt even beyond distance as I received care packages from family and my covenant sisters; to be reminded of the home and community I left behind. The community that paid for my flight, and food, and car to be shipped. The community that packed and stored many of our items. The community that discipled my family and I for so so many years.

I am so beyond thankful for God the Father, Jesus the advocate, and The Holy Spirit breathed in us. These three so tangibly remind us of the strength of unity and two or more. I am so thankful that They, He, Them created us in their image. I am grateful for the hands and feet around me. I am grateful that this life is best lived when lived together.

Abundantly With Love,

The Anonymous Wife

1 Corinthians 12:12-26

12 Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptized by[c] one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink. 14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honorable we treat with special honor. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty, 24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honor to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honored, every part rejoices with it
