Sometimes I'm Rude...

Dear Friend,

Sometimes I’m rude. Sometimes I don’t speak when I enter a room or when I send a text. However lately I’ve been convicted. I thought earnestly about how rude I’ve been. My mom has always told me that it’s rude to not greet people. I used to think it was so unnecessary, greetings. Until I began to focus more on relationships.

A greeting is an act of communication in which human beings intentionally make their presence known to each other, to show attention to, and to suggest a type of relationship (usually cordial) or social status (formal or informal) between individuals or groups of people coming in contact with each other.

Greetings display love and denote the relationship between two people. As a matter of fact there is a proper greeting that should occur before we talk to God. Before we pray, before we request. Psalms 100:4 reminds us, “Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name.” I had to begin to reflect; how often had I missed properly greeting God? I know I had missed it with loved ones, so I’m sure I missed it with God. Did I come to him with Thanksgiving or was I rude and straight to my request, or rambling, or with in an entire conversation without properly greeting Him? Are there times in which I forgot to give Him the honor He is due? When we honor our relationships, greetings shouldn’t be an issue, as a matter of fact they should be a must. In certain cultures greetings denote honor, I was sad thinking of the lack of respect I had for those I love. My friend, think deeply about how you honor your relationships with the greetings that you give and adjust accordingly, I know I am.

Entering Into His Gates with Thanksgiving,
