Fearfully and Wonderfully Made

Dear Friends,

I visited the Tulsa Zoo recently. I wanted to just explore the animals, and observe their behaviors. What an eye opener to God’s order. I would like to share about one animal in particular, which is the “African Wild Dog.” On this day, all of them were laying together resting in a pack. I started reading the literature they had posted on a sign about their behavioral traits. Reading about their behavior bought certain scripture to mind. Here are some of the traits that stood out.

  1. They build up each other’s confidence with group rallies, where they trot about shoulder to shoulder, tails held high.

I Thessalonians 5:11 NLT “So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.

  1. They are rarely aggressive with one another. In fact, it is often a race to submission rather than dominance, each dog giving the other a wide lipped grin, bowing their head low in reverence.

Ephesians 5:21 NLT “And further, submit to one another out of reverence for Christ.”

  1. They travel in a pack their entire life; no man is left behind, and after they complete their hunt, the meal is freely distributed to pups, the nursing mom, the sick, old, and injured.

I Timothy 5:8 NLT “But those who won’t care form their relatives, especially those in their own household, have denied the true faith. Such people are worse than unbelievers.”

Psalm 71:9 NLT “And now, in my old age, don’t set me aside. Don’t abandon me when my strength is failing.”

Remember animals didn’t eat the forbidden fruit, so they still innately follow the order in which they were designed. Yet, in my walk with God I am learning to take moments to probe creation that still operates in His divine order, and to gain knowledge from it. My day at the zoo, was not the typical zoo day. I walked away rejoicing and praising God in some areas, while finding myself repenting in other areas. I, also walked away with my trust all the more anchored in God our Creator. If a God of Love could put so much details into the animals he made, Like the Psalmist David I will boldly lift my hands an declare…….

Psalm 139:14 AMP “I will give thanks and praise to You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Wonderful are Your works, and my soul knows it very well.”
