Spiritual Growth

Dear Friends,

Can we agree that most of us love to see things growing around us. If we have children, we enjoy sharing with others about their growth moments. You know things like, my son was only six pounds when he was born, now he 6 feet tall. He is wearing a size 12 shoe, and did I mention he is only 13 years old, or how about….What have you been using on your hair, it has grown down your back? In the natural we have equated growth with good, and often times it is. It is always good to see our children growing and maturing. Likewise, we should carry that same zeal with our spiritual growth, and also when we see spiritual growth in those around us. In this devotional, I, want to share with us the prayer Paul, prayed to God for the spiritual growth of the Church of Ephesus. This is a prayer that I often pray over myself, my family, my ministry, and those who I am attached too.

Paul’s Prayer for Spiritual Growth

14 When I think of all this, I fall to my knees and pray to the Father,[e] 15 the Creator of everything in heaven and on earth.[f] 16 I pray that from his glorious, unlimited resources he will empower you with inner strength through his Spirit. 17 Then Christ will make his home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong. 18 And may you have the power to understand, as all God’s people should, how wide, how long, how high, and how deep his love is. 19 May you experience the love of Christ, though it is too great to understand fully. Then you will be made complete with all the fullness of life and power that comes from God.

20 Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen.

Like Paul, I pray that we are continuously yielding our lives to the Holy Spirt, who is our intercessor and helper. That we remain planted in Christ and His word. So, that our Spirit man grow strong and matures..
