The Scratch Off

Dear Friend,

Who hasn’t been drawn in (if even for a moment) to become apart of a quick fix financial opportunity? I don’t care if it wasn’t but a $5 scratch off, a Powerball ticket and you used your grandma’s address and birthday for numbers, a Publisher’s Clearing House Entry, or a trip to the Vegas strip and you entertained a penny slot machine. If the thought was entertaining it was because it sounded like the likelihood of winning was a quick guaranteed reliable source of increase. Only to realize that you had give way more than you expected with nothing in return.

As a believer, I thought I was completely sold out on the Word. Until I realized that in areas I didn’t believe Him I was treating the principles of Kingdom of God just like a slot machine. Instead of believing, and trusting the Word, I was quoting scripture and taking a gamble on Kingdom. The word says give and it will be given back to me. So I’d give and then be like, “It might be given back to me?!?” Every time I did this I watering down the truth that there might not be a return. I would be in a situation, speak the Word, then close one eye (as if I released my words in Faith) watching to see what happens. If it didn’t happened, I would turn my heart from God and charge Him as if He let me down...(but He never fails see 1 Corinthians 13:8)

As I grow in Him, I’m becoming more and more confident in the Word. Truly standing in and on His promises! Understanding that His Word is true and that He cannot lie! When the Word tells me to trust in the Lord with all my heart, and lean not to my own understanding. And in all my ways acknowledge Him and He will direct my path...(Proverbs 3:5-6) I’m not just saying it now. I am spending time with Him and growing in a relationship with Him and I KNOW it to be true!

This is a confidence that can only come from a personal relationship and not just a religious moment at church. It’s a daily process. Seek Him out today, find out what His Word says about you! Ask the Holy Spirit to open your eyes to see the power of His Word. And as revelation of truth and light come you’ll see life from a whole new perspective...one of Kingdom! There’s always a return on investing in the Kingdom of God! Seek first the Kingdom! (see Matthew 6:33) He’s not a slot machine, the promises of God are not maybe, they’re covenant absolutes!
