Get Off My Bumper!

Dear Friend,

Can you think about moments while driving when someone was following you too close? Whether on the highway or a residential street failing to provide adequate spacing between vehicles isn’t safe. This is usually a tale tale sign that they are in a rush to arrive at their destination. But regardless of the reason, they are still running the risk of causing harm to others and/or even themselves!

Anxiety is just like the impatient driver following too close! It rides your bumper and attempts to sway you to move in a direction that may you not need to go. It bullies you to shift you out of position! Anxiety can be subtle. And sometimes you won’t realize it until it’s slowly drifted you off the road of your purpose. Usually this occurs one distraction at a time. Whether it’s racing thoughts or the rehearsal of one particular situation re-evaluated fifty different ways. Every time we decide to let anxiety rule us we run the risk of hurting ourselves, and also those connected to us. Regardless the situation, anxiety is persistent/relentless until we decide to stand in our authority and deal with it according to the Word of God! Stand up! We don’t have to be berated or consumed by anxiety! We have a choice!

You will not leave in a hurry, running for your lives. For the LORD will go ahead of you; yes, the God of Israel will protect you from behind.

Isaiah 52:12 | NLT

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.

Philippians 4:6-9 | NLT

Confession

Father you are always with me. I am never in a hurry. I am at peace in every situation! And I am not bullied by anxiety! God you have my back! And I am grounded in the peace of God.

Isaiah 52:12; Philippians 4:6-9

Grace and peace be multiplied to you,

Jess
